A secret affair with rain

I love the first drizzle, the smell of soil, the drips coming down from the tip of the Deodar tree in my house. In college I knew the smell is due to some cyanobacteria( but then who cares?)Since I knew , I loved rain.Every monsoon,I miss the tiny stream flowing before my house in Angul. we named it the great Mahanadi:) i had sweet memories of floating numbers of paper boats in that stream. The classes would be postponed, school remained closed for a couple of days and I enjoyed the time with pakodi and hot tea.I had a strong craving for tea in those days as I was not allowed to be served with a full cup of tea. Some spoonfulls would do for me(poor me)..I remember making tea in absence of my mom and sipping it on the roof top to aviod her anger... so many years have passed and I am staying in hostel since last 12 years..But my affair with rain still continues. In Gujarat, I dn't get enough time or stream to float my paper boat. Yet I enjoy the tiny drops of rain, the scenery of birds chirping on the cassia branches and the rain bathed grasses in the campus...I miss my school days but I feel happy to be reminded of those golden years of my life.I fall in love with each rainy day... I mumur my favourite song "Mayuri go............."
